Frequently Asked Questions

What is Amendment 2?

Amendment 2 is a proposed amendment to the Kentucky Constitution to allow for more educational opportunities for families, students, and teachers. Amendment 2 does not set any policy but, if passed, would simply allow the legislature to consider school choice policies designed to work best for Kentucky.  Amendment 2 will be at the very end of the November 5 General Election ballot.

Why is Amendment 2 necessary?

The Kentucky Supreme Court has interpreted the Kentucky Constitution to prohibit any sort of school choice program. This judicial activism has caused Kentucky to fall behind surrounding states, which all have educational choice programs that are benefiting students. The only way around this current barrier is to amend the Kentucky Constitution to make it clear that the General Assembly has the authority to provide educational opportunities for the families and students of Kentucky.

How can I help and can my Church get involved?

Your prayers, engagement, and financial support is vitally important to raise awareness of Amendment 2. And YES, your Church can get involved! Because this constitutional amendment is a ballot measure voted on by the people, and not a political candidate or party, Churches and other 501(c)(3) non-profits can directly advocate for the passage of Amendment 2.
