Dobbs Anniversary Approaches, Social Conservatives in Kentucky, and Across Nation, are United in Protecting the Unborn

LEXINGTON, KY – In the only straw poll for and by social conservatives exclusively, of the nearly 14,000 social conservatives who have taken the poll to-date across the nation, 92% of them confirm that abortion should never be legal or should only be allowed up to 6 weeks (heartbeat), with 66% of that group making no exceptions or making an exception only for the life of the mother.

Of the nearly 400 who have taken the poll to-date in Kentucky the total is 97%, even higher than the national average –with 90% of Kentucky social conservatives confirming that abortion should never be legal with an additional 7% believing it should be illegal after a heartbeat. In that group, 75% of Kentucky social conservatives believe in making no exceptions or making an exception only for the life of the mother. The results indicate continued overwhelming support for Kentucky’s Human Life Protection Act that is in full effect in Kentucky. The abortion industry dropped its legal challenge to the law earlier this week.

Family Policy Alliance and The Family Foundation are releasing these preliminary results in celebration of the one-year anniversary of the overturn of Roe v. Wade in the Supreme Court’s June 24, 2022 decision Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

The Family Foundation’s Executive Director David Walls responded to these overwhelmingly pro-life results on the eve of the Dobbs anniversary:

“As we approach the one-year anniversary of the historic Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the pro-life movement has much to celebrate while remaining steadfast in building a culture that values all human life by protecting every unborn child from the grave evil of abortion. These results confirm that social conservatives are united in providing full and equal protection for unborn children and stopping the human rights violation that abortion brings on mother and child.

Kentucky’s social conservatives represent a large voting block that overwhelmingly support the Human Life Protection Act, which prohibits abortion with an exception for the life of the mother. Important work still remains for the pro-life movement in Kentucky and across the nation, but we are unified in protecting every precious human life—and we will ultimately win by lovingly upholding truth and justice,” Walls concluded.

The Social Conservative Straw Poll, hosted by Family Policy Alliance, will continue to run and gather results with final results being released later this summer. Family Policy Alliance is a public policy organization working for a nation where families can thrive, and which hosts the alliance of family policy councils – premier pro-family organizations – around the nation. The Family Foundation is the allied family policy council for Kentucky.
