LEXINGTON, KY – In response to former President Donald Trump’s historic victory, which included a broad coalition of evangelicals, Catholics, pro-lifers, parents, Hispanics, and many other voters, The Family Foundation encouraged the General Assembly to pursue a bold pro-family and pro-human dignity agenda in the upcoming 2025 legislative session.
The Family Foundation also expressed disappointment over Amendment 2 failing to attain the necessary majority to pass in Kentucky. Amendment 2 was a proposed constitutional amendment to the Kentucky Constitution to allow for more educational opportunities for families, students, and teachers.
Statement from David Walls, executive director of The Family Foundation:
“Former President Donald Trump’s historic victory shows that the Left has simply gone too far promoting woke, pro-transgender ideology and harmful anti-family policies that are out of touch with families and out of touch with reality. We are encouraged to see that Kentucky maintains its strong pro-life, pro-family majority in the General Assembly. As we approach the 2025 legislative session, The Family Foundation looks forward to working with the General Assembly to promote policies that will further protect Kentucky women and girls from transgender ideology, defend the unborn, promote strong families and parental rights, and strengthen religious freedom. We must pray for our state and our nation and thank God for the liberties He has blessed us with in this great nation and Commonwealth.
“While we are disappointed in the results of Amendment 2, we look forward to continuing to advocate for greater educational opportunities for Kentucky families. Kentucky’s one-size-fits-all education system is simply failing many students and families, and we continue to believe that an essential part of improving our education system is by providing increased freedom and choice for Kentucky families and students.
“In the absence of that freedom, we remain committed to do everything that we can to protect children from the harmful ideologies that have overtaken many public schools and harmed their effectiveness. While this is not the end of the road, the journey is certainly more difficult, and more Kentucky students will remain trapped in schools that do not fit their needs,” concluded Walls.
More than 30 states have educational choice programs, and Kentucky remains the only state in the region without an active school choice program.
