Let Us Pray

Let Us Pray: A Day That We Will Never Forget

“May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!” – Psalm 29:11

On this day twenty-three years ago, Americans woke up to what seemed to be a normal morning where people were going to work, taking care of daily tasks, and simply living their lives. However, before the day could get very far along it became clear that September 11, 2001, was anything but a normal day.

September 11, 2001, is a day in American history that we will never forget because of the egregious and ruthless terrorists attacks that were perpetrated against our great nation. On that fateful morning, Al Qaeda terrorists successfully hijacked four American airplanes.

On suicide missions, those terrorists crashed two planes into the two towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The terrorists also took control of another aircraft that they targeted and crashed into the Pentagon, which is the headquarters for the U.S. Department of Defense in Arlington, Virginia.

The fourth plane that was hijacked by the terrorists was United Airlines Flight 93 and it is believed its target was the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. However, valorous Americans on board, fought back against the terrorists in the air and successfully diverted the plane where it crashed into a rural field in Pennsylvania before reaching the Capitol building.

Nearly 3,000 of our fellow Americans perished due to the vile terrorist attacks on the morning of September 11, 2001. Evil is, unfortunately, a reality in our world, may God keep His protective hand upon our nation daily.

LET US PRAY…

Father, please bring comfort and peace to those who are grieving today because they lost loved ones and friends in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Lord, please keep Your protective hand upon our nation daily. Father, thank You for the blessings that we are allowed to experience daily from being Americans. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
