Let Us Pray

“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.”
– Genesis 50:20

The nation of Afghanistan finds itself in a chaotic and dire situation as it is now controlled by the Taliban. The over twenty-year-old U.S. war is now concluding as it began in Afghanistan with the Taliban in power.

On Sunday, the U.S. personnel at the U.S. embassy in Kabul were evacuated and flown out of the country to safety. The U.S. flag was also removed from flying over the building and was also transported to safety.

In addition to this, also on Sunday, Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country to Tajikistan. Moments later, the Taliban seized the President’s Palace in Kabul and now occupy the epicenter of power for Afghanistan.

Many Americans are angered, hurt, and concerned to see the Taliban return to power in Afghanistan as many U.S. soldiers sacrificed so deeply to extinguish the power of this radical Islamic group. Many Afghanis are trying to flee the nation out of fear of being ruled by the Taliban. It is deeply troubling to see images of these Afghanis clinging to American planes at the Kabul airport as they desperately try to escape the vile rule of the Taliban.

LET US PRAY . . .
Father, we pray for the Afghanis who are suffering right now under the reign of the Taliban. Father, we ask that You will bring good out of the chaos in Afghanistan. Lord, we lift up our brothers and sisters in Christ in Afghanistan to you. Lord, give them Your peace and strength as they are in a trying and difficult time. Lord, give our leaders Your wisdom. May our President and his administration handle this situation in a way that honors You, our nation, and our military men and women. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
