“Proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.” – Act 28:31
To be bold means to hold fast to one’s convictions with confidence and courage even in the face of fear and in disregard of the consequences that may follow. The sad reality is that the American Church over the decades has lost a degree of boldness at large.
Passivism has infiltrated American Christianity and has taken root in some parts of the Church today. That is to say, a portion of American believers today desire complete avoidance from any form of conflict and actually choose a cowardly path rather than taking a stand for Christ in our culture.
The problem with adopting the idea of passivism in our lives is the simple fact that it is an unbiblical way to live for believers. All throughout the Old and New Testaments the Word of God commands believers to be bold, courageous, and strong.
Boldness is set forth in the Scriptures as a virtue that all believers should strive to exhibit in their lives. According to the Scriptures, those who are bold for Christ will not only experience His blessings in the here and now but will also be given eternal rewards in heaven.
May we trust in the Holy Spirit’s power to give us the courage we need to be bold witnesses for our Lord in our current culture so that we may glorify God in our stand for Him.
LET US PRAY…
Father, help us to be bold witnesses for You in every facet of our lives. Lord, empower us with Your very Spirit to be strong and courageous for You in our culture that is antagonist toward Your truth. Father, may our lives bring You glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
