Let Us Pray: Bible Sales are Exploding

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105

Days ago, The Wall Street Journal just published an article stating that there has been an explosion of Bible sales in the United States over the last year. There has been a 22% uptick in Bible sales at the end of October when compared to the same period of time last year.

Interestingly, the article noted that according to several publishing houses, a large portion of the buyers are younger and are members of Gen Z. Fueling the booming sales of Bibles are those who are first-time buyers.

So, why is it that there has been an explosion of Bible sales over the last year? According to the article, which is likely correct, with all of the rising anxiety and worry in our culture people are desperately searching for hope, truth, and answers.

We live in a fallen world, and our world is frantically looking for answers to the most important questions we face. Praise be to God, our culture, which is a world seemingly upside down, more and more is turning to the only reliable source for truth and answers, the Scriptures.

May those seeking answers in our anxiety-filled culture find that the Scriptures truly are the best roadmap for navigating life and for finding eternal life in Christ Jesus. May our nation one day exclaim with the Psalmist, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You that Americans in great numbers are turning to Your Word for answers in our culture that is filled with anxiety and uncertainty. Lord, may those who read Your Word come to accept You as their Savior. Father, may we as a nation look to Your Word for answers in all situations that we face. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
