Let Us Pray: Bold Living in an Antagonistic World

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

The scene in Deuteronomy chapter thirty-one is one where Moses realizes that he is nearing the end of his earthly life. As he is advanced in age, it is becoming apparent to him that he will be unable to lead the people of God into the promised land. Moses, in a great show of leadership, begins to prepare the Israelites for a new leader as his departure becomes imminent.

For the Israelites to be able to enter the promised land, Moses understood that they would have to be bold and courageous in the battles that they were going to face. The nations that the Israelites were going to have to fight were much stronger and more powerful.

With this being the reality, Moses commanded the Israelites to, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Moses knew that if victory was what the Israelites desired then they must valiantly fight for it.

American believers are facing many battles today as well, such as fighting to protect human life, fighting to protect the family, fighting to protect our religious freedom, and more. If we are to be victorious in defending our faith and standing for our Lord in this antagonistic world toward Biblical truth, we must have the courage and boldness to strongly stand up and speak out.

Our command today is the exact one Moses gave to the Israelites all those centuries ago ”Be strong and courageous.” If we truly desire to see our state and nation become a land that honors God, then we must as Christians answer the call to exhibit great courage in standing for Biblical truth in this antagonistic age.

LET US PRAY…

Father, empower us to be bold advocates for You in an age that is antagonistic toward Your truth. Lord, help Your people here in the United States realize that we are not called to be passive but rather we are called to be “strong and courageous.” Father, strengthen us to be fearless defenders of Your truth here in Kentucky and America. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
