Boy Scouts Change Name in Woke Move

“For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6

Over a century ago, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was founded and has operated to support and teach young boys to become strong and productive men. Days ago, however, the 114-year-old institution announced at its national meeting that it will officially change its name to Scouting America.

The rebranding of the organization was a woke move in an effort for the organization to focus more on “inclusivity.” The chief executive officer of the Boy Scouts of America, Roger Krone said, “It sends this really strong message to everyone in America that they can come to this program, they can bring their authentic self, they can be who they are and they will be welcomed here.”

This isn’t the first act of wokeness to infiltrate the Boy Scouts of America. As reported by The Washington Stand, “In 2013, Boy Scouts leadership voted to undo a longstanding policy barring membership to those who openly identify as homosexual, and moved in 2015 to formally permit openly-gay men to serve as adult leaders. In 2017, Boy Scouts leadership allowed biological girls who identify as transgender to join its ranks, later opening the Boy Scouts to all girls and renaming the organization’s flagship program, “Boy Scouting,” to “Scouting BSA.”

This is a case study as to what happens when organizations, businesses, and movements go woke. There is no bottom to the downward spiral of wokeness once an organization starts down that path. Unfortunately, the Boy Scouts of America, which was once a great organization for young boys, has now abandoned its mission and identity.

LET US PRAY…

Father, help Your people to remain strong in Your truth and not cave into the anti-Biblical principles that are being promoted in our culture. Lord, help us to disciple boys into the godly men that our society so desperately needs. Father, empower us to be faithful advocates for Your truth in our world. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
