In our world today, almost everyone is striving for greatness in some, if not all areas of life. We strive to be great in our professional life, we strive to be great in our family life, we strive to be great in all the various avenues of life.
Many times, we equate greatness with fame, fortune, power, and prominence. Although there is nothing wrong with striving for greatness in the numerous aspects of life, it must be noted, that true greatness is seen in one’s life which is defined by faithfulness to God.
Throughout the Scriptures, it is seen time and time again, that in the eyes of the Lord, one’s faithfulness to Him is greatness. To be a faithful Christian means to be unfailingly loyal to Christ and all that He commands of us.
Many of us will never have a life that is defined by stardom, popularity, or celebrity status, and that is just fine as this is not what makes one great. In all things that our hands find to do may we do them all faithfully to the Lord as that is what makes one truly great.
LET US PRAY…
Father, remind us that this world cannot truly offer us greatness. Lord, empower us to live a life that is wholly and fully devoted to You. Father, remind us in times of discouragement and in times of triumph that true greatness is only defined by one’s faithfulness to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
