“As he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.” – 2 Peter 3:16
On Monday, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago where he focused his speech on the issue of abortion. In the appalling pro-abortion speech, Gov. Beshear completely mischaracterized the pro-life position by attacking the pro-life views of the GOP ticket.
In the speech, he inaccurately described pro-life policies as “giving rapists more rights than their victims.” Interestingly enough, during his time as the Governor of Kentucky, he has also mischaracterized pro-life measures in our Commonwealth with the exact same language.
After Gov. Beshear attacked pro-life policies and championed radical pro-abortion views, he talked about the need to treat people rightly, and at that point he quoted a part of Mark 12:31. He stated, “How we treat people transcends party lines. It goes right to the heart of who we are. My faith teaches me the golden rule — that I am to love my neighbor as myself. And the parable (of) the Good Samaritan says we are all each other’s neighbors.”
It must be noted that Gov. Beshear is completely twisting the Scripture to advance and support his radical agenda. To Biblically love one’s neighbor, one must desire and act in ways to see our neighbor flourish. Championing the murderous practice of abortion that does not lead to a flourishing life, but rather to the termination of one’s life is the complete opposite of loving one’s neighbor. Misrepresenting Scripture in this manner must be condemned.
LET US PRAY…
Father, please open Gov. Beshear’s eyes to the reality of evil that he is promoting by advocating for abortion. Lord, please help him see the serious and dangerous place he is in before You by twisting the Scriptures. Father, help us to effectively advocate for pro-life policies in our state and nation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
