“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” – Galatians 5:13
Representative Steve Rawlings (R) filed the very important House Bill 47 earlier in this year’s Kentucky Legislative Session. This piece of legislation is a crucially needed religious liberty bill.
Kentucky’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act is in need of a few updates and definitions to ensure that it continues to adequately protect the religious liberty rights of every Kentuckian. Kentucky’s current law is the shortest of all twenty-three states that have it and leaves our state susceptible to misinterpretations that undermine religious liberty.
House Bill 47 updates Kentucky’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) with the strongest language from recent court cases and state legislation to ensure that it provides adequate protections for religious liberty.
Thankfully, House Bill 47 is seeing some movement and starting to pick up momentum. On Wednesday, House Bill 47 was passed in the House Judiciary Committee hearing.
LET US PRAY…
Father, we praise You for our very precious right to religious liberty here in the United States. Lord, we thank You for Representative Steve Rawlings’ efforts in filing House Bill 47 to strengthen our religious freedom law. Father, please empower the KY General Assembly to favorably pass this important bill. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
