Recently, on Sunday, May 14, 2023, Kentucky state Representative Lamin Swann passed away at the age of 45. He died just days after being admitted to a hospital due to a “significant medical emergency.”
Rep. Swann represented District 93, which is in the Lexington area. He was elected in November of 2022 and officially assumed office on January 1st of this year.
The organizational work of the Kentucky General Assembly is carried out by committees which Rep. Swann served on numerous ones. He served on the committees for elections, transportation, health services, and more.
Following Rep. Swann’s death his mother, Pam Dixon said, “There are no words to fully describe the grief and impossible loss that others and I feel right now after saying good-bye … to my beloved son.” As we reflect on the tragic death of Rep. Swann, let us remember in our prayers to lift up his family and loved ones who are immensely grieving in this time of loss.

Father, please comfort and bring peace to Rep. Swann’s family as they mourn this tragic loss. Lord, please help Rep. Swann’s loved ones in the days ahead as they continue forward without him. Father, please use Rep. Swann’s passing to remind us that life is short and that we must wisely use our time to glorify You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
