“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” – John 14:1
The world as it is now, is laced with turmoil between nations and leaders, various wars are being fought around the globe, and there is intense uncertainty as to where things are headed. Here in the United States, we are witnessing extreme political division, tough economic times, and a multitude of other issues that threaten our nation.
The chaos we are witnessing around the globe and in our own nation has a way of bringing anxiety and worry to the very inner parts of our beings. As Christians, however, we are not to live in a state of perpetual inner turmoil, no matter how unsettling things around us may become.
In fact, Christ Himself commanded us as believers in Him to not allow our hearts to be troubled. This at times, admittedly, can be difficult, because as humans we are prone to allow our fears and worries to overtake us.
Believers can have hearts that are completely at peace in Christ no matter the outside circumstances when the focus is not on the chaos in our nation and world but on Christ who is sovereign and in control. The next time a world event or a situation in our nation arises that threatens to still your peace, remind yourself of the truth that Christ the King is still on His throne, and that He remains in complete control as He holds the world in His hands, and that He will care for You in all circumstances.
With these truths at the forefront of our minds, we can obey the command of Christ and have hearts that are at complete peace as we allow the light of Jesus to shine through us in this world.
LET US PRAY…
Father, empower us to focus wholly on You even in chaotic times so that we may obey Your command to “let not our hearts be troubled.” Lord, thank You for the supernatural peace You give us in difficult seasons. Father, help us in good times and in bad times to rely on You for our strength, endurance, and peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
