“When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.” – Proverbs 29:2
Days ago, on October 14th, Louisiana held what is known as a jungle primary where all fourteen candidates of all parties for governor were pitted against each other. If one of the candidates wins an outright majority, then they win the election. If not, the top two candidates will face each other in the November general election.
For the last eight years in Louisiana, the Governor’s Mansion has been occupied by Democrat Governor John Bel Edwards. Shawn Wilson was the major Democratic challenger in the recent governor’s race that the Democratic party rallied behind to succeed Gov. Edwards, and it was expected that he would be in the runoff general election.
Louisiana’s incumbent Governor, John Bel Edwards is a moderate, but there is no doubt that Shawn Wilson was a far-left candidate as he campaigned as “proudly pro-choice.” The most known Republican candidate was Jeff Landry who is the acting attorney general for the state of Louisiana and is a staunch conservative.
Most predicted a run-off election in the Pelican state to follow the jungle primary between Shawn Wilson (D) and Jeff Landry (R). However, the election ended up being an unexpected, crushing victory for Republican candidate Jeff Landry. Attorney General Landry won 52% of the vote and Wilson ended up with 26% of the vote.
This is a huge win for the Pelican state as now their governor is one who is unashamedly pro-life, pro-family, and pro-freedom. Kentucky in just a matter of days has an opportunity as well to vote for the one who will occupy the Governor’s Mansion here in the Commonwealth for the next four years. May Kentuckians, like those in Louisiana, vote for the candidate who will uphold Biblical values.
LET US PRAY…
Father, we praise You that Louisiana voters elected a Governor who will uphold Biblical values. Lord, empower Kentuckians to also elect a governor who will lead in such a way that You will be glorified. Father, help Americans to understand the truth that when the righteous rule the people rejoice. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
