“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:27
College athletics in the United States are governed by two major bodies, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The NCAA is a much larger governing body with three different divisions in it.
The NAIA is the smaller governing body that is mostly comprised of small private colleges around the nation. The NAIA, however, in a recent move has made a big splash in the world of college sports with its new action to protect women’s sports.
One week ago, the NAIA put forward its new commonsense policy that ensures fairness in women’s sports by not allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports. The old policy, which allowed biological men who identified as transgender females to compete in women’s sports, was unanimously overturned by a 20-0 vote to enact the new policy.
The NAIA rolled out this new policy after it appointed a task force that consulted experts and studied the evidence that correctly revealed that women’s sports would be destroyed if biological men who claimed to be transgender were allowed to compete in them. Speaking about the new policy, NAIA President Jim Carr stated, “For us, we believed our first responsibility was to create fairness and competition in the NAIA. … We also think it aligns with the reasons Title IX was created. You’re allowed to have separate but equal opportunities for women to compete.”
The NAIA, with this new policy, has ensured fairness in women’s sports, which in effect now puts tremendous pressure on the NCAA to do the same. Kentucky, and more than 20 other states, have also passed legislation protecting women’s sports. The NCAA needs to act quickly in the same manner before transgender ideology destroys women’s sports programs.
LET US PRAY…
Father, we praise You for the courage of the NAIA to take this bold move to protect women’s sports. Lord, please empower the NCAA to follow the NAIA by implementing its own policy to protect women’s sports. Father, may Your creation of humanity, being either male or female, be honored throughout our nation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
