“He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.” – Deuteronomy 10:18
“National Adoption Month” is celebrated every November in the United States. As we close out this month, let us celebrate and praise God for the parents who have courageously answered God’s call in faith to adopt needy and vulnerable children, and may we also celebrate with adopted children as they now have a family.
The sad reality is that there is a great need for adoptive families in our nation. Recent statistics reveal that in the United States alone there are over 120,000 children legally available for adoption who currently reside in the foster care system.
Being pro-life is certainly about fighting against abortion and standing up for the pre-born, but it also entails caring for human life from the point of conception until natural death. Furthermore, being pro-life also includes being pro-adoption.
That’s why The Family Foundation began working with pregnancy help centers in the early 1990s and helped form the Kentucky Association of Pregnancy Care Centers in 1994. As the General Assembly recognized, these centers “provide important support and resources for women who choose childbirth over abortion” while also providing “information on adoption and adoption referrals to pregnant women.”
You can join the compassionate, life-saving work of your local pregnancy help center by purchasing Kentucky’s “Choose Life” license plates. These plates support your local pregnancy help center financially with an included donation and enable you to be a “Choose Life” advocate wherever you drive.
LET US PRAY . . .
Father, we praise You, for the courageous families who have stepped up and answered Your call to be adoptive families. Father, please bless, protect, and help these adoptive families as they care for children in need. Lord, please raise up many more families to adopt those children in desperate need today. Father, thank You, for adopting us into Your family through the work of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
