Let Us Pray

National Foster Care Month (May 3, 2022)

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” – Matthew 19:14

Scripture teaches that God has an incomprehensible and unfailing love for children as they too, like adults, are made in His divine image. Unfortunately, it is a heartbreaking reality that there are over 437,500 children in America who have been placed in the foster care system.

These children were not provided with adequate care from their parents and because of the danger they were susceptible to, they were placed in the foster care system. Many of these children are eagerly and hopefully awaiting adoption so that they may be placed permanently in a home of protection with a loving father and mother.

To show appreciation and gratefulness to foster parents across America who have stepped up and provided safety and care for vulnerable children in times of need the U.S. government has celebrated the month of May since 1988 as “National Foster Care Month.” Seeing the need that we have in our nation for foster care parents reveals the deep brokenness of our family structure.

Dr. Sharon Ford with Focus on the Family stated, “We urge you to commit time this month to pray for these precious children who matter so much to the One who created them. It’s simply about concentrated, heartfelt prayer. National Foster Care Month is a chance to petition God to move in our world.”

May we truly petition God this month to care for these vulnerable children and to heal our broken family structure in America.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we pray for the many children in the foster care system in our nation today. Lord, please bless them, give them peace, and care for them. Father, please raise up parents across America to adopt these children in need and to give them a home of protection, care, and love. Lord, please heal our broken family structure in this nation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
