Let Us Pray: New California Law Keeps Parents in the Dark

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

On Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law a deeply troubling and concerning legislative measure that undercuts parental rights by intentionally keeping parents in the dark about their kids when at school. AB 1955, the new law, bans schools from requiring educators to tell parents if their child uses different pronouns or a “gender identity” that’s different from what’s on their school record.

The California State Legislature passed AB 1955 in response to school districts throughout the state passing policies that require parents to be notified if a child asks to change his “gender identification.” This new law is only intensifying the raging battle over parental rights between several school districts and the state.

Many within The Golden State are taking a stand and pushing back against this very alarming law. In fact, very soon after AB 1955 was signed into law, the Chino Valley Unified School District sued the governor, arguing that the law violates constitutionally protected parents’ rights.

This new California law not only violates the Constitution, but it also violates the Biblical command that is divinely given to parents. Parents are Biblically tasked with protecting, teaching, leading, and guiding their children in the ways and truth of God’s Word. By keeping parents in the dark, this new law is restricting parents from fulfilling their God-given responsibilities.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we pray that the lawsuit that has been filed against AB 1955 will be successful and will halt this troubling law. Lord, we thank You for the courageous people in California who are standing strong against this attempt to undermine parental rights. Father, may parental rights always be protected in our nation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
