Let Us Pray

Let Us Pray: Pray for America

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” – Mark 11:24

When evaluating our nation, any objective person will conclude that our nation is in a critically unsettling position. At this moment, America is facing a conglomerate of momentous issues such as a hefty national debt, bitter political division, rampant moral chaos, and more.

In this intense moment of national turmoil that is currently unfolding, praise be to God, we do not have to be filled with discouragement or questions about how we are to act. Christians are commanded to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) by our Lord, which means to engage and influence our culture for His truth.

Although there is everything right and nothing wrong with actively working to advocate for the truth of Christ in our culture, it should not be our first action. The most powerful tool that believers have, the most powerful action we can take is prayer, which is too often neglected.

S.D. Gordon rightly put it this way, “You can do more than pray after you have prayed but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed.” Let us not forget, that the most powerful thing we can do to see healing in our nation is to seek the face of Almighty God in prayer asking Him to heal America.

Let us fervently, whole-heartedly, and passionately pray for our nation as we confidently rest in the assurance that the “prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).

LET US PRAY…

Father, help us to always see prayer as the first response to every situation we face in life. Lord, empower us to pray fervently for our nation and then actively work to influence our nation for You. Father, please bring healing, unity, and peace to our nation that is at a critical moment. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
