Let Us Pray: President Jimmy Carter Dies at Age 100

“He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” – Daniel 2:21

From 1977 to 1981, Jimmy Carter served as the 39th President of the United States. Before his election that put him in the Oval Office, he served as the 76th Governor of Georgia, and previous to that he served in the Georgia State Senate.

President Carter graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1946. After his graduation, he was commission in the United States Navy where he had deployments in the Atlantic and Pacific fleets. On December 29, 2024, President Carter passed away in his hometown of Plains, Georgia.

There is debate among historians as to how effective President Carter was in office. However, generally, his character has been widely admired. President Carter’s devotion to his wife, Rosalynn, for 77 years before her passing is something that needs to be modeled in our world today. His tireless work in the nonprofit Habitat for Humanity was nothing short of admirable. These things, and more, reveal that although President Carter had faults, like all people, he was a man who achieved much good throughout his life.

Carter is the first U.S. President to live for a full century, and he was the longest-lived President in our nation’s history. President Carter will be honored at a state funeral on January 9th in Washington before he is laid to rest in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, alongside his wife, Rosalynn.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You for the life of President Jimmy Carter and the good that he accomplished throughout his life. Lord, we praise You that President Carter publicly acknowledged You as his Lord. Father, empower us to live lives that glorify You and promote good in our world. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
