“The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name.” – Isaiah 49:1
Last Friday, moments after President Trump addressed the 52nd National March for Life in Washington, D.C., through a video message, he signed an executive order titled, “Enforcing the Hyde Amendment.” This important order reverses the extreme agenda of the Biden administration that used taxpayer dollars to fund abortion.
The executive order enforces the Hyde Amendment, which was originally passed in 1976, that bans any federal funding for abortion. The order also reinstitutes the Mexico City Policy, which was first enacted in 1984 by President Reagan, that halts federal funding for international organizations that perform or promote abortion.
The order reads, “For nearly five decades, the Congress has annually enacted the Hyde Amendment and similar laws that prevent Federal funding of elective abortion, reflecting a longstanding consensus that American taxpayers should not be forced to pay for that practice… It is the policy of the United States, consistent with the Hyde Amendment, to end the forced use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortion.”
Praise be to God, federal funds will no longer be used to fund the evil, murderous practice of abortion. Thankfully, this order safeguards federal funds not only here at home, but also abroad from being used to perform or promote abortion.
LET US PRAY…
Father, we praise You for this executive order from President Trump that protects federal funds from being used to perform or promote abortion. Lord, we pray that federal funds will never again be used for the promotion of abortion. Father, may we defend, protect, and advocate effectively for the unborn in every way possible. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Every “Let Us Pray” devotional throughout this year’s legislative session will have the names of those in authority here in Kentucky so that we may fulfill our God-given command to pray for our governing leaders.
