“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.” – Psalm 37:3
In our society today it seems that there are some who will take every opportunity they can to sow divisiveness, discord, and damage in our nation by promoting issues and situations that are antithetical to the Gospel of Christ. As Christians, we are called to be on the complete opposite side of the coin by doing and promoting that which is good.
As believers in Christ, we are Biblically commanded to champion, promote, and pursue goodness in our lives and throughout our culture in every possible avenue that we can. The Psalmist simply instructs us in this way, to “trust in the Lord” and “do good.”
The Biblical directive is clear, we are to behave, act, and work to promote goodness all throughout our society. Everything that God calls good in the Scriptures, is that which will bring peace, joy, contentment, satisfaction, and more to our lives and to the lives of our neighbors.
We are so blessed as Americans because we have the opportunity to do good for ourselves and our neighbors by advocating for public policy that champions human dignity, honors God’s good design, and more. We also can do good by voting for candidates who will lead in a way that will glorify God. In a world full of darkness, let us shine our light brightly as we pursue goodness.
LET US PRAY…
Father, help us to simply, but faithfully trust in you and “do good.” Lord, remind us that we are not called to passivity, but called to action in doing good throughout our nation. Father, thank You for the privilege of living in a free land where we can freely pursue goodness throughout our nation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
