“A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.” – Deuteronomy 22:5
During this legislative session, Sen. Robby Mills filed the very important Senate Bill 83. Senate Bill 83 is the much needed “Save Women’s Sports Act.”
The “Save Women’s Sports Act” is a piece of legislation that seeks to protect women’s sports here in Kentucky from being destroyed by the transgender movement that seeks to allow biological males to compete in female athletics. Science and common sense tell us that males are generally bigger, faster, and stronger than females. No amount of hormone therapy can undo all those advantages.
This bill, simply put, is trying to ensure female athletes in the Commonwealth that they will be allowed to compete on a level playing field. If this bill doesn’t pass, it is clear that women in Kentucky will lose big time as scholarships, opportunities, and more will be stolen from them.
Thankfully, the Save Women’s Sports Act was heard and passed in the Senate Education Committee on Thursday with a 9-3 vote. However, David Walls, the Executive Director of The Family Foundation pointed out in his testimony at the committee hearing that “the bill limits its protections to K-12 girls and does nothing for female college athletes.”
Walls also stated, “While protecting any of Kentucky’s female athletes is an important step, only protecting some of them sends the wrong message and is inconsistent with Title IX’s guarantee of equal opportunity for females – including equal opportunities in sports.”
LET US PRAY . . .
Father, may each and every Kentucky legislator understand the desperate need to protect women’s sports. Lord, we pray that the Save Women’s Sports Act will be expounded upon and not only protect female athletes, but also collegiate female athletes as well. Father, help us, to defend Your truth that You have created each one of us perfectly, either male or female. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
