A new survey has been released by Gallup which reveals that there has been a significant increase in adults in the United States over the past decade who identify as LGBTQ. Gallup first started tracking adults in the U.S. who identify as LGBTQ in 2012, and at that time 3.5% identified as LGBTQ.
The new data shows that adults who identify as LGBTQ have more than doubled since 2012 and are now at 7.6%. The rapid increase is coming mainly from younger generations. For example, nearly one in ten millennials and one in five Gen Z adults now have an LGBTQ status.
According to the survey, there are notable gender differences for adults who identify as LGBTQ. Adult women who identify as LGBTQ is at 8.5% and adult men who identify as LGBTQ is at 4.7% which shows that U.S. women are nearly twice as likely to identify as LGBTQ as U.S. men are.
Sadly, Gallup believes it is likely that if current trends continue adult LGBTQ identification will only increase in the future. Gallup stated, “If current trends continue, it is likely that the proportion of LGBTQ+ identifiers will exceed 10% of U.S. adults at some point within the next three decades.”
May we not become pessimistic about this data, but may it motivate us out of love for our neighbor to be bold in our witness of the Gospel to those who are deeply confused and reveal the truth of God’s Word concerning human sexuality to them so that they may live a life of abundance in congruence with God’s perfect ways.

Father, empower us to effectively engage our culture which is so confused with Your truth about life and human sexuality. Lord, strength us to reveal to our society that only following Your ways will lead to true flourishing in this life. Father, may our nation as a whole return to Your truth once more.
