Let Us Pray

Stand Firm (January 10, 2022)

“Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” – 1 Kings 18:21

Today, believers who will stand firm for the Lord, Jesus Christ, are needed now more than ever. Mounting threats and daily ferocious attacks are being launched at the Biblical principles that made America the greatest nation on earth.

The Prophet Elijah’s bold and courageous call to the people of his day is the same call we need to believe in and follow in our day as well. On Mount Carmel, Elijah encouraged and challenged the people to not waver in their firm stance for God. The culture in Elijah’s day was filled with pagan worship, sinful pleasures, and idolatry.

A great number of people knew that the Lord was God, but they were wavering between following Him and His truth and living out their own sinful desires. In many ways, this is like America today. Many Americans claim to be Christian, and yet our nation promotes issues that are antithetical to the Word of God such as same-sex marriage, abortion, and “so-called” gender change.

It is time for Christians in this free land to stand firm for our Lord and His truth no matter the consequences that might follow. As we enter into the second week of the Kentucky 2022 General Assembly may Elijah’s call be our mission. Let us stand firm and never waver for Biblical truth throughout this highly important legislative session.

LET US PRAY . . .
Father, strengthen us to always stand firm for Your truth in our culture. Lord, empower us to effectively promote policies in this legislative session that bring honor and glory to Your Name. Give us the fire and courage of Elijah as we voice Your truth to the culture and our legislature. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
