Let Us Pray: States Pass Bills to Ban Pride Flags from Government Buildings

“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” – Proverbs 16:18

Two states, Utah and Idaho, have recently passed bills through their state legislatures to ban Pride flags from being displayed in or on government buildings, which include public schools as well. Utah’s version of the bill will go into effect at the beginning of May as Governor Spencer Cox (R) decided not to veto the bill.

Any state building that disregards the Utah law that prohibits the displaying of Pride flags will be fined $500 a day. Last week, the Idaho state legislature also passed a similar bill that prohibits the displaying of Pride flags on government buildings as well.

This bill will only allow a short list of specific flags to be displayed in or outside government buildings. The flags that will be legally allowed to be exhibited will be the official U.S. flag, the official state flag, official flags of government organizations, military-related flags, Idaho school flags, and various other official flags.

Pride flags, from a Christian perspective, represent sexual orientations that the Scriptures condemn and identify as sinful and damaging. Pride flags are the public displaying and celebration of sinful and sexual perversions that are against God’s will for humanity, and that ultimately lead to a life of pain as all sin does. Good for Utah and Idaho, as these states have decided not to promote sin that leads people away from the fruitful life God desires for us to experience.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You for these righteous laws prohibiting the public display of Pride flags on state buildings that ultimately celebrate that which You have condemned. Lord, help us to effectively communicate to our world that only by following your ways can a person, family, and society experience the height of human flourishing. Father, may many more states follow this lead by Utah and Idaho. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
