“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.” – 1 Peter 4:7
For some time now, the marijuana industry has focused on pushing the narrative that somehow marijuana use is good and healthy. The marijuana industry has touted that not only is cannabis healthy and “medically necessary,” but that it should be legal for recreational use as well.
In November, Ohio became the latest state in the nation to legalize marijuana use for recreational purposes. The reality is, however, that marijuana use is far from healthy and is very dangerous and harmful.
Recently, the Wall Street Journal released an article citing multiple studies showing that marijuana use is harmful, especially for younger people, in which marijuana use is causing people to develop psychosis. In the article, Dr. Deepak D’Souza, a Yale psychiatry professor stated, “large studies show a clear link between frequent and more potent cannabis use and higher rates of psychosis, particularly in young users.”
The article cited many more concerning and harmful realities connected to marijuana use. It is a sad reality, even with all of these medically documented negative effects of marijuana use, that the drug is completely legal in 24 states, and is also legal medically in another 14 states.
LET US PRAY…
Father, may we collectively as a nation seek to be people who fulfill our Biblical command to be self-controlled and sober-minded. Lord, open the eyes of every American to see the harm associated with marijuana use. Father, empower our governing leaders to only pass legislation that will lead our culture to flourish. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
