The Need for Courage
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
– Psalm 27:14
It seems that the cultural current is forcibly pulling in every direction except for in the line of Biblical orthodoxy. This is seen nowhere better than that of our society by and large heading in the opposite direction in the case of what the Bible teaches about human sexuality.
Many in America not only accept homosexuality, transgenderism, and sexual perversion of all kinds that the Bible denounces, but rather these lifestyles are celebrated. The winds of sexual immorality and anti-biblical lifestyles are blowing so hard that many believers feel completely overwhelmed by them which leads most often to passivism and silence.
As we continue into secular modernity, believers must understand that we are not called to keep quiet, rather we are called to be strong and to let our hearts take courage as we wait for the Lord. With just a quick observation of the state of our society, it is abundantly clear that the virtue of courage needs to be exhibited desperately by Christians right now.
If we desire to see our nation be pleasing to God in every aspect of life, then we must take a courageous stand in our public proclamation and defense of God’s Word. As believers show courage in standing for God’s truth in our culture, more believers will start showing courage as well, as courage is contagious. Rev. Billy Graham once said, “Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened.”
LET US PRAY…
Father, help us to be strong and courageous for You in our world today. Lord, may You be pleased by our efforts to stand strong for Your truth in our society. Father, we pray that America will return and live by Your truth, especially in the area of human sexuality. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
