The Problem with Pride Month

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” – Proverbs 16:18

The month of June has been designated by some across our nation as “Pride Month.” So-called “Pride Month” is a calendar month set aside for some to celebrate the LGBTQ+ culture and community.

This month across Kentucky and the nation there will be festivals, events, and celebrations of various kinds to celebrate the lifestyles of the LGBTQ+ community. Pride celebrations are focused on celebrating and promoting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or other “queer or questioning ” lifestyles.

The core issue with celebrating pride month, for the believer in Christ, is the fact that in reality celebrating pride month is celebrating what the Scriptures call sin. Celebrating LGBTQ+ lifestyles is celebrating harmful sexual perversion that God Himself has condemned in His Word.

Furthermore, not only is celebrating pride month a celebration of what God has condemned, but it truly is a rejection of God, Himself, and His good plan that He has for humanity. The Bible teaches us how we are to order our lives sexually which leads to a flourishing life, but pride month is a celebration of rejecting God’s plan for human sexuality.

Those celebrating pride month need to understand that it is out of a prideful heart that one rejects God’s ways and replaces them with their own, just like replacing His truth on human sexuality with their own ways of sexual perversion. This is rocky footing to be on as, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

LET US PRAY…

Father, please enlighten those who are actively celebrating “Pride Month” to realize that in actuality they are celebrating sin. Lord, help us as Your people to always speak the truth even when it is not easy. Father, help our nation as a collective whole to understand that Your blessings only follow a nation that honors You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
