Let Us Pray

Let Us Pray: Trust in the Lord!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”- Proverbs 3:5-6

It has been reported by many reliable scientific studies that anxiety is on the rise in our world today. In America, with the presidential election just days away, it is being reported that anxiety is plaguing Americans in an even more impactful way.

According to NPR, Americans are suffering from “election stress disorder” from the overwhelming anxiety that they are experiencing when evaluating the possible outcomes of the election. Studies are showing that this election cycle in particular is causing intense stress and anxiety for Americans.

Although we, as believers in Christ, are very concentrated and concerned about the election outcomes, we need not be filled with worry and anxiety. In fact, we are commanded by Scripture to not be anxious (Philippians 4:6-7).

With so much at stake on November 5th, may we be filled with full trust in our Lord and not with worry or anxiety. The avenue to extinguishing anxiety about the election and in our life, in general, is found in Proverbs 3:5-6 where Solomon commands us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”

To trust in the Lord, in these verses, means to trust something so much that one puts one’s whole weight on that something to uphold oneself. They do not even attempt to support themselves; they simply and wholly rely on something to uphold the entirety of their weight. As we look intently and expectantly to the November 5th election, let us trust in the Lord wholly and in peace knowing that He will remain the sovereign ruler over all things regardless of the outcome.

LET US PRAY…

Father, as we look toward the immensely important November 5th election, help us to trust in You completely and not be overwhelmed with anxious thoughts or feelings. Lord, remind us daily that trusting in You and in Your ways is the avenue that leads to a life free of worry and anxiety. Father, may our nation as a collective whole return to You and put our trust in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
