Let Us Pray: U.S. House Passes Bill to Protect Women’s Sports

“He answered, ‘Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female.’” – Matthew 19:4

On Tuesday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 28, a federal legislative measure that provides protection for women’s sports across America by prohibiting biological men from competing in them. This important bill also amends Title IX to define sex as based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.

The House voted in favor of H.R. 28 by a margin of 218 – 206. Encouragingly, the vote was bipartisan, as two Democrats joined the Republicans by voting in favor of the bill. This is an improvement as last year’s vote on this bill in the House received no Democrat support. Hopefully, many more Democrats will continue to abandon the faulty transgender ideology and uphold common sense by keeping biological men out of women’s sports.

House Speaker Mike Johnson stated, “Today, the House voted to uphold common sense again… We voted to require all schools receiving federal funds to uphold the original meaning of Title IX and keep biological men out of women’s sports.”

The bill now heads to the Senate, which has a 53-47 Republican majority. However, the bill needs 60 votes to overcome the filibuster and reach a final vote. This means the Republicans need to pick up seven Democrats to join them in order to send the bill to the President’s desk.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You that the U.S. House had the courage to pass H.R. 28 which will provide protection for women athletes across the nation. Lord, we pray that the U.S. Senate will follow suit and pass this very important bill. Father, may our nation as a collective whole honor Your created order. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Every “Let Us Pray” devotional throughout this year’s legislative session will have the names of those in authority here in Kentucky so that we may fulfill our God-given command to pray for our governing leaders.
