“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” – Matthew 6:10
In Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus is teaching and instructing his disciples on how they should pray. In verse ten of Matthew chapter six, Jesus teaches us to pray for His “kingdom to come” and for His “will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Our Lord calls us in Matthew 6:10 to pray and labor for the continual advancement of God’s kingdom here on the earth. This means we are to pray earnestly and work faithfully to see our Commonwealth and nation become a land where God’s laws are followed, His teachings revered, and His ways honored.
Furthermore, Christ commands us in Matthew 6:10 to pray for God’s “will to be done” here on the earth as it is in heaven. We are to pray wholeheartedly for God’s purposes to be accomplished in this world. God largely, however, has chosen to allow us, His people, to be His primary avenue for accomplishing His purposes in this world. We simply must be willing to be used by Him.
God desires for His “kingdom to come, His will to be done, on earth as it is in heaven” right now. This in part can be accomplished through our faithful effort to continuously pass God-honoring legislation here in Kentucky.
LET US PRAY…
Father, help us to faithfully pray and work for Your kingdom to come, Your will to be done, on earth as it is in heaven here in our state and nation. Lord, thank You, for the opportunity to labor and work for Your kingdom’s cause. Lord, may we press on in fighting the good fight until You come back again. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
