Kentucky Pregnancy Help Centers

The pregnancy help center movement is a remarkable and unique resource with a widespread physical presence in every state, serving on the frontlines as they help families in need of support and resources during an unplanned pregnancy.

The Family Foundation’s primary role within the multi-faceted pro-life movement has been in the public policy realm, striving towards a Kentucky in which the intentional killing of unborn human babies is unlawful. But we have also understood and supported the important role that pregnancy help centers play in loving and ministering to mothers and fathers facing an unplanned pregnancy. We formed the Kentucky Association of Pregnancy Care Centers in 1994 and administer the “Choose Life” license plates, distributing 100% of donated funds to the pregnancy help centers throughout the Commonwealth.

A major legal and public policy victory for the pro-life movement occurred on June 24, 2022 when the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, returned the abortion question to the people’s elected state representatives, where the authority rested for the first 185 years after the adoption of the U.S. Constituion.

That authority had wrongly been stripped from the States in 1973, when the egregiously wrong decision in Roe v. Wade invented a right to abortion in the Constitution. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is what the Constitution and the rule of law demanded.

New pro-life pregnancy help centers will be needed, existing centers will need to grow and expand their capacity, and local churches will need to step up their support and partnership with these critical ministries.
